The Create a VPS wizard has you name your server, choose what it runs, where it runs, and how big it is, then review the price. The amount due is paid from your prepaid balance, and the console starts building the server as soon as you confirm. A new server is typically ready in 1–2 minutes.
Your balance must cover the first billing period. The Review step shows whether it does. If it doesn’t, you can top up by QRIS in a dialog over the wizard, so you keep your selections. See Add balance.

Open the wizard

Open the wizard in one of two ways:
  • In the console sidebar, under Servers, click My VPS. Then click Create VPS at the top right.
  • In the VPS catalog (VPS under Servers), click Deploy next to a plan. The wizard opens with that region and plan already chosen. If that region or plan can’t run the operating system you pick, the wizard switches to one that can.
The wizard has two steps: Server and Review. The bar at the bottom of the page shows the step you’re on and the price per billing period. Use Continue to move to Review, and Back to return. On the Server step, Cancel takes you back to the page you came from. You can also click Server in the progress bar at the top to go back to it. Each step opens at the top of the page. The Configuration panel on the right lists your selections as you make them, with the server’s resources and price.
The Create a VPS page on step 1, Server, with the two-step progress bar, the Give your server a name section with a suggested name, and the What do you want to run? section with the Linux card and a Windows card marked Not available right now, neither selected. The Configuration panel is on the right, and the bottom bar has Cancel and Continue.

The Server step before you choose an operating system

Step 1: Server

The Server step has four sections: Name, Operating system, Location and Size. The location and size sections appear after you choose an operating system, because regions and plans depend on it.

Name your server

The Give your server a name section with a prefilled server name, a character counter, a Looks good confirmation and four example names. Below it, the What do you want to run? section has the Linux card selected and a version dropdown.

The Name section with a suggested name

Under Give your server a name, the wizard suggests a name built from the distribution, the region code and a random suffix. Until you choose an operating system, the name starts with vps. The suggestion follows your choices until you type your own name. Keep the suggestion, type a name of 3 to 48 characters, or click one of the example names below the field. This name identifies the server in your server list.

Choose an operating system

The What do you want to run? section with the Linux card selected, a Windows card marked Not available right now, and a version dropdown below the cards. The Where should we deploy? section with region cards follows, then the start of the Choose a plan section with the Billing period buttons.

The Operating system section with Linux selected

Under What do you want to run?, click Linux or Windows. The wizard doesn’t choose one for you.
  • Linux is the usual choice for websites, apps and databases. You sign in over SSH with a generated password.
  • Windows is for software that needs Windows. You connect with Remote Desktop (RDP).
When you click a card, the wizard selects the newest version of its main distribution. If more than one distribution is offered, pick one under Choose a distribution. Then choose a version from the version dropdown below the cards. A card that shows Not available right now isn’t offered in any region at the moment.

Choose a region

Under Where should we deploy?, click a region card. Choose a region close to your users. The suggested region has a Recommended tag, and the wizard selects it for you. You can’t select these regions:
  • Regions tagged Sold out, which have no capacity right now.
  • Regions tagged Unavailable, which can’t take orders right now.
  • Regions that don’t offer your operating system. Their card says so, for example “No Windows here”.
If the region you had selected doesn’t offer the operating system you pick, the wizard switches to another region and shows a notice. When there are more than eight regions, click the Show … more regions link below the cards to see them all.

Choose a billing period, provider and plan

The Choose a plan section, starting with the Billing period buttons Daily, Weekly and Monthly, with Monthly selected. Below them are a selected provider card with its logo, plan count and starting price, Plan type buttons that each show a starting price, and the plan table with Provider, CPU, RAM, Storage, Bandwidth and Price columns, one selected row and page controls.

The Size section: billing period, provider, plan type and plan table

Choose a plan starts with Billing period. Click Daily, Weekly or Monthly. Monthly is selected by default. The plan prices below follow the period you choose. The period is also how often the server renews and charges your balance. Under Provider, each card shows a provider that runs plans in your region, with its number of plans and starting price. Click a card to switch to that provider’s plans. Some providers also offer more than one Plan type, each with its starting price. Click a type to switch to its plans. In both cases, the wizard selects one of the new plans for you. The wizard preselects a plan, usually the recommended plan or the cheapest one with a public IPv4 address. To pick another one, click its row in the table. Each row shows the plan’s CPU, RAM, Storage, Bandwidth and Price per billing period. Click a column title to sort the table. When there are more than eight plans, use the page controls below the table. The Bandwidth column shows how much data the plan can transfer per month, or Unlimited. A speed in brackets, such as (200 Mbps), is the plan’s network speed. Some rows carry a tag:
  • Sold out: the region has no capacity for this plan right now. You can’t select it.
  • Unavailable: the plan can’t be ordered right now. You can’t select it.
  • IPv6 only: the plan has no public IPv4 address. See the warning below.
When a promotion applies, the Price column shows the first-period price, the regular price crossed out, and the terms, for example a discount on your first month. A promotion can be limited to your first order. Some plans can be ordered only a limited number of times per account. For those, the Price column says so, for example 1 per account or Up to 3 per account. Every order of the plan counts, including servers you have since deleted. Orders that were cancelled or failed don’t count. The table lists only plans that can run your operating system. Plans with a disk smaller than your image needs are hidden, and a note below the table says how many.
An IPv6-only server can only be reached from a network that has IPv6, and many home and office connections don’t. Before you choose an IPv6-only plan, check your connection at test-ipv6.com, or pick a plan without the IPv6 only tag.
If SinarCloud counts your server’s data transfer, data the server receives and sends both count toward the plan’s allowance. The transfer month runs 30 days from when the server first came online, whatever billing period you choose. When the server uses its whole allowance, SinarCloud stops it, and you can’t start it again until the next transfer month begins. SinarCloud then starts it again for you. Your data is kept, and billing continues while the server is stopped. See Manage a VPS.

How you sign in

Every new server signs in with a generated password. There is no sign-in choice to make in the wizard.
  • On Linux, you sign in over SSH with the username the console shows, such as ubuntu.
  • On Windows, you sign in as Administrator over Remote Desktop. A new server’s Firewall tab has rules only for SSH (TCP port 22), so add a rule for TCP port 3389 before you connect. See Configure the firewall.
The console shows the password only once, while your server is being built. See Follow provisioning.

Continue to Review

Click Continue. If something is missing, the section shows what to fix, for example Choose Linux or Windows to continue, Please select a region or Please select a plan.
The wizard mentions renaming, resizing and snapshots. These aren’t available from the console yet, so choose your name and plan with care.

Step 2: Review

The Review step with summary cards for Operating system, Region, Provider, Plan, Billing Period, Sign-in and Server name, each with a pencil icon except Sign-in. Below them are the Promo code field with an Apply button, the Wallet card tagged Ready to deploy, the You're entering a contract notice, and the bottom bar with Back and Create VPS.

The Review step: summary cards, promo code and wallet

Under Almost there. Take a last look., check the Operating system, Region, Provider, Plan, Billing Period, Sign-in and Server name cards. For a plan limited per account, the Plan card also shows the limit, for example 1 per account or Up to 3 per account. To change a choice, click the pencil icon on its card. The wizard returns to the Server step with your selections kept. If you chose an IPv6-only plan, the Read before you buy: this server is IPv6-only notice appears below the cards. Read it, then select I’ve checked that my connection has IPv6, and I understand the limits above. You can’t create the server until you do. To pick another plan instead, click choose a plan with a public IPv4 address in the notice.

Apply a promo code

If you have a promo code, enter it under Promo code and click Apply. If the code works, the console confirms that the code is applied and shows how much you save. When a discount applies, a Pricing card shows the Subtotal, Discount and Due now amounts, and the price you pay per period after the first one. Some promotions apply automatically, so the card can appear even if you don’t enter a code.
  • A promotion discounts only the first billing period.
  • An order uses one promotion at a time. If you enter a code, it replaces any automatic promotion.
  • If Code rejected appears, read the reason. Click Remove to continue without the code.
To add balance with a coupon instead, see Redeem a coupon.

Check your wallet

The Wallet card compares your available balance with the amount due:
  • Wallet has enough funds: the card shows your available balance and your balance after this order, and is tagged Ready to deploy.
  • Insufficient funds: the card shows your available balance and a Top up wallet button. Click it to open the QRIS top-up dialog over the wizard, with the missing amount filled in. After you pay, the Review step updates on its own.
The You’re entering a contract. notice below shows what you pay now for the first billing period, after any discount. After that, the server renews from your balance every billing period while automatic renewal is on, which it is by default. If automatic renewal is off, or your balance can’t cover a renewal, the server and its data are deleted 6 hours after its period ends. A server whose renewal couldn’t be paid is suspended until then, and you can still renew it. See Renewals and expiry. If the Review step shows This order can’t be placed., read the reason, then go back and change your selection.

Confirm and deploy

  1. Click Create VPS in the bottom bar.
  2. In the Confirm your order dialog, check the Order total, Wallet balance and Balance after order. If a discount applies, the dialog also shows the Subtotal and Discount.
  3. Click Proceed.
Confirm your order dialog over the Review step, saying funds will be reserved from your wallet on confirmation, with the Order total, Wallet balance and Balance after order, a notice that your wallet has enough funds for this order, and Cancel and Proceed buttons

The Confirm your order dialog when your balance covers the order

If your balance is too low, the dialog shows Insufficient balance with the minimum amount to add, and Top up wallet appears in place of Proceed:
  1. Click Top up wallet. The Add credit dialog opens with the missing amount filled in, rounded up to the next Rp 1,000. A top-up is at least Rp 15,000.
  2. Click Continue to payment, then scan the QR code with your banking or e-wallet app.
  3. When the payment is received, click Back to your order. The confirmation dialog returns with your new balance.
  4. Click Proceed.
If the dialog says Your wallet is not active, contact us from the Support page before you order. If it shows Failed to create order, read the reason and try again. When your account has reached a plan’s per-account limit, the reason says so, for example This plan is limited to 1 per account, and your account already has one. Please choose another size. Go back to the Server step and pick another plan.

What happens to your balance

You can’t cancel an order once the server has started building. While an amount is reserved, the Current Credits card on the Billing page lists it as reserved. See Balance and billing.

Follow provisioning

After you confirm, the wizard switches to your new order and opens at the top, with a status banner that shows your order number. The headline follows the build: Starting provisioning…, Queued at the provider, Building your server, Finalizing your instance and finally Your VPS is ready. A progress bar and a timer show how far it has come, next to the server’s provider, region and plan. The Connect to your server panel has everything you need to sign in:
  • Public IPv4, or Public IPv6 for an IPv6-only server. It fills in when the server is online.
  • Username, the account you sign in with.
  • Generated password, available as soon as building starts. Click Reveal to see it, or Copy to copy it.
  • SSH command, ready to copy. For Windows, the panel tells you which address and user to use in Remote Desktop.
Store the password in a password manager, then select I’ve saved this password.
The console shows the password only once. If you leave the page before you select I’ve saved this password, the console asks Did you save the password? Click Stay on this page to go back and copy it. Your browser also warns you if you close or reload the tab. Going back with the browser’s back button doesn’t warn you.
If you lose the password, you can reset it from the server’s Access tab while the server is running, if the server supports it. Password reset isn’t available on IPv6-only servers yet, and the Access tab tells you when a server can’t reset its password. See Connect to your VPS. Under Provisioning details, you can follow the Stages of the build, the Activity log and the Order details. In the activity log, click Copy or Save to keep a copy as text, for example to send to support. The section folds away when the server is ready. Click its title to open or close it. When the server is ready, click Go to instance to open it, or Create another VPS to start a new order. SinarCloud also emails the account owners that the server is ready, with its address and username. The email never contains the password. Next, connect to your VPS. To leave earlier, click Continue in background. The server keeps building, and you can find it under My VPS.

Troubleshooting

Your order was placed, but the server hasn’t started building. Your funds stay reserved. You can:
  • Click Retry to try again with the same settings.
  • Open the order from Orders and click Deploy server to start the build from there.
  • Open the order from Orders and click Cancel order to release the reserved funds.
See Orders.
Read the reason on the page. The reserved amount usually goes back to your available balance. The next item covers the exception. To try again, click Create another VPS. The wizard starts over, so make your choices again.
Rarely, after a failure, the console can’t confirm whether your server was created. Your funds then stay reserved until the SinarCloud team checks and releases them. If a failed order still holds your funds, contact us from the Support page.
Regions and plans tagged Sold out or Unavailable can’t take orders right now. A region that says it doesn’t offer your operating system can’t run it. Pick another region or plan, or try again later.
Your account already holds as many orders of this plan as it allows. Servers you deleted still count, but cancelled and failed orders don’t. Close the dialog, click Back and choose another plan.

Try the wizard before you sign up

On the sign-in page, next to Just exploring?, click See VPS pricing to try the wizard without an account. In this preview, the Review step doesn’t show a promo code field or your balance. Prices can include a promotion for new customers. Your final price is set when you review the order after signing in. To deploy:
1

Open the sign-up dialog

On the Review step, click Sign in to deploy in the bottom bar, or Continue to sign-in. The Sign up to deploy your VPS dialog opens. Your browser keeps your choices for 24 hours.
Sign up to deploy your VPS dialog over the Review step of the wizard, saying your configuration is saved, with a Continue with Google button, an Or sign up with email link, and a note that there are no charges yet and you top up your wallet after signing in

The Sign up to deploy your VPS dialog

2

Continue with Google

Click Continue with Google. The button shows Connecting to Google… while it starts. SinarCloud may ask you to complete a quick security check: if a checkbox appears below the button, tick it to continue.Or sign up with email below the button opens the sign-up page instead. That page also signs you up with Google, then brings you back to the wizard.
3

Review and deploy

After you sign in, the wizard opens with your choices filled in, on the Review step when they are complete. On your first sign-in, the console asks you to confirm your time zone first.
If you opened a referral link in this browser earlier, the referral also applies when you create your account from this dialog. See Affiliate program. If the dialog shows We couldn’t complete the security check. Please try again. or Google sign-in could not be completed. Please try again., click Continue with Google again. If a Sign-in failed page opens instead, click Back to sign-in. After you sign in, you still return to the wizard. See Troubleshooting.
